Change prices by a percentage, amount, or fixed value

Increase or decrease Shopify product prices in bulk, choose a calculation method, and keep price, compare at price and cost separate.

Use a task to change prices permanently. A task can adjust each selected variant's current price by a percentage or amount, or replace every selected price with the same value. For a temporary promotion, use a sale.

Choose the calculation

Goal

Price action

Example without an extra rounding rule

Raise prices by 10%

Increase price, By percent, 10

20 becomes 22

Reduce prices by 5 currency units

Decrease price, By amount, 5

20 becomes 15

Give every selected variant the same price

Set new price, Amount 19.99

Both 20 and 30 become 19.99

An amount uses your store currency in Product prices mode. A percentage uses each variant's current price unless you explicitly choose a cost-based calculation under Relative to.

Create the task

  1. Open Tasks and click Create task.

  2. Select Product prices under Change type.

  3. Choose the action under Price.

  4. Enter the percentage or amount for that action.

  5. Set Apply to to the products, collections, tags or variants you want to change.

  6. Review Exclude and Exclude discounted.

  7. Click Create task when the settings are ready to apply.

Creating a task starts a real price change. Before changing a large selection, test on a small selection. The task's Details show the old and new values after processing begins.

Price, compare at price and cost are separate

Changing Price does not automatically apply the same percentage to Compare at price or Cost per item. Leave their actions unchanged unless you intend to edit them too. Also check their Rounding settings: rounding can change a field even when its action says not to change it.

To keep the previous selling price crossed out during a permanent markdown, select Set to price under Compare at price. This copies the price from before this task's adjustment, not the newly discounted price. The storefront theme decides how to display it.

Set new price sets one value for every selected variant. It is not a spreadsheet import for assigning a different value to each variant; Bulk Price Editor does not import price CSV files.

Changes use the current price

A second 10% increase applies to the price after the first increase: 100 becomes 110, then 121. It does not apply that increase to Compare at price or Cost per item. To preserve either field, leave its action unchanged and select No rounding for that field. An opposite percentage does not undo the first task. Use the recorded rollback procedure when you need to undo a task.

A decrease that would leave a zero or negative price keeps the previous price instead. Gift card prices are capped at 9,999 in the applicable currency.
